The Ontario driving test evaluates your ability to drive safely and confidently. Whether you’re taking the G2 or G test, understanding what to expect can help you prepare.
Before the Test
- Documentation: Bring your current license and proof of test booking.
- Vehicle Check: Ensure your car is in good working order with functioning lights, brakes, and signals.
- Arrive Early: Reach the test center at least 30 minutes before your appointment.
During the Test
- Follow Instructions: Listen carefully to the examiner’s directions and ask for clarification if needed.

- Safe lane changes and merging
- Obeying traffic signs and signals
- Maintaining proper speed and distance
- Parallel parking and three-point turns

After the Test
The examiner will provide immediate feedback. If you pass, you’ll receive instructions for obtaining your new license. If not, review the feedback and focus on improving for your next attempt.
