G1, G2, and Full G License Stages in Canada

Hello, I’m Baris. In Canada, getting a driver’s license follows a graduated licensing system with three stages: G1, G2, and Full G. This step-by-step system is designed to help new drivers gain experience and drive safely on the road. In this article, I’ll explain each stage and provide tips to help you succeed.

1. G1 Stage – The First Step

The G1 license is the first step in obtaining a full driver’s license in Canada. To get your G1, you need to pass a written test that covers traffic rules, road signs, and driving safety. With a G1 license, you can drive, but there are some restrictions:

  • You must always be accompanied by a fully licensed driver with at least four years of driving experience.
  • You are not allowed to drive on highways or between midnight and 5 a.m.

I can help you prepare for the G1 test by providing the necessary theoretical knowledge and practice tips.

2. G2 Stage – Gaining Driving Experience

The G2 license is the next step after passing the G1 stage. To obtain a G2 license, you must pass a practical driving test. With a G2 license, you have fewer restrictions, but there are still some limitations:

  • You can drive on highways, but there are restrictions on driving late at night, especially for younger drivers.
  • You must maintain a zero blood alcohol level while driving.

The G2 stage allows you to drive independently, and I can guide you through this phase with hands-on driving lessons that focus on the skills you’ll need for the test.

3. Full G License – Full Driving Privileges

The Full G license is the final stage of the graduated licensing system. With a Full G license, you can drive without any restrictions. To get a Full G license, you need to pass a more advanced road test that evaluates your ability to handle complex driving situations, such as highway driving and emergency stops.

As a driving instructor, I offer tailored lessons that focus on helping you pass the Full G test and become a confident, independent driver.

At Kanadaehliyet.ca, I’m here to support you throughout each stage of the licensing process. Whether you’re just starting with your G1 or preparing for your Full G, I can provide personalized guidance to help you succeed.
